Academic Alerts

The APLUS Academic Alerts System offers instructors an opportunity to provide undergraduate students early and frequent feedback and comments on grades, attendance, class participation, and homework completion for each student. These warnings give undergraduate students the opportunity to take action in their academic planning and work in order to be successful.

Instructors of 1xxx-level classes are required to submit an academic alert for students who are likely to receive a D, F, or N by the end of the term.

CEHD requires that an alert be submitted for all students enrolled in all 1xxx-level KIN, SMGT, and CEHD courses.

All other instructors are strongly encouraged to submit an alert anytime there is a concern about a student’s grade, attendance, class participation, or homework completion.

The APLUS Academic Alerts system includes a list of students in the instructor’s classes. All alerts will automatically generate an email that will go to the student and the student’s primary advisor. The goals of this system are to:

  • encourage open discussion between students, instructors, and advisors
  • integrate advisors into academic discussions early
  • empower advisors to proactively help students navigate academic challenges before those challenges affect the outcomes of a term
  • indicate to advisors how students are doing across multiple classes so that advisors can spot patterns and address issues more broadly

If you have any questions, please contact [email protected]. Thank you for all you do to support our students and their academic success.
