Waitlists
If your course has a waitlist and it is initiated, please do not distribute permission numbers until the waitlist has been satisfied. Each evening the waitlists are processed and students are placed in the class.
Permission Numbers
On the first day of class, instructors may allocate permission numbers to students in attendance as they see fit. Students will use these permission numbers to register themselves for the class. The course waitlist is a good way to allocate permission numbers fairly, but consideration may also be given to graduating seniors or to students who need the course in order to fulfill a degree requirement or pre-requisite.
PE instructors are not authorized to distribute permission numbers before the first day of class unless authorized by the program director.
All permission numbers expire by the end of the second week of classes, B-term classes are the exception. If a student needs to add the course after this time, he or she must fill out an Academic Policy Petition requesting to add the course late. The instructor must sign the Academic Policy Petition verifying late admission is acceptable before the student can turn it into his or her college advising office.
To access class permission numbers, visit the Faculty Center and click on the key icon next to the course number.
If you would like a detailed walkthrough of how to issue a permission number, please consult the How to Manage Class Permissions guide.
