Additional tips:
- If you are concerned that too many students will be online vs. in the classroom, require a “Zoom request” and send the Zoom link only to students who request it. Sample Zoom Request Form
- If you want to provide recordings, record yourself during class on Zoom. Provide students with recordings from the current or previous semesters (if they exist).
- Create a “collective notes” document accessible to the class, where students can work together to record notes from each class session. This can serve as a record of important content that students can access when they have to miss a class session. Or, if you have a Teaching Assistant, ask them to act as a notetaker and distribute their notes to the class, or just to students who have missed a particular session.
- Create opportunities for students to build community within the class, so that they can reach out to a peer to help them understand what they missed
- Be clear and transparent about the options students have for making up content when they are absent.
