Pre-Semester Student Email

Prior to the start of the semester, PE instructors must email the Class Roster and Bcc: [email protected] the following information:

Course syllabus: A PDF version of the course syllabus, noting that this is their syllabus and that you will not be providing paper copies unless they indicate that they need one.

Classroom Directions: Clearly outline how the students will access the class meeting room and what they will need in order to access this space.  We do not want students to unregister because they couldn’t find their class on the first day.

  • For those classes that take place in Cooke 10, 302, 308, 325, RecWell/URec 220, 145, Squash Courts, 320, Fieldhouse, and Natatorium, students will enter through the front doors of the Recreation Wellness Center and there will be individuals directing them to the class meeting spot. They will need their Student ID.
  • For classes in Mariucci Arena, RecWell Dome, Saint Paul Gymnasium, TCF Bank Stadium, Ridder Arena, Golf Course, Student Union, or Cooke Hall Lobby, please make sure that students know the address, what door to enter through, and how to find you. This will require you to have a conversation with the Facility Manager.
  • Encourage students to arrive early.

Student Supplied Equipment and Gear Needs: Identify the equipment and gear students should have on hand prior to the first day of class and throughout the semester.  You are expected to include 2 or 3 outlets to purchase this equipment.

Health Status Form FYI: All students must be informed of the Health Status Statement and this email is an opportunity to inform them.  The statement is as follows:

This course involves a (high, moderate) energy expenditure level and is to be considered (high, moderate) intensity in nature. It is therefore recommended that students know the status of their health and any limitations on their ability to safely participate in the physical activities involved in the course. If there are any questions about your health status, you should seek advice from a physician. You should also inform me of any pre-existing health condition prior to any activity.

Additional notes:

  • Your contact information and interest in working with them this semester.
  • Encourage them to get their friends to register if the course is not fully enrolled.
